The Main Event

My second visit to Kefalonia will certainly stay with me for a long long time. I holidayed in style, we sang, ate, danced, sunbathed, saw the sights again, oh, and I ending up meeting someone very special.

It was a coincidence that some life long friends of mine were also staying at the hotel at the exact same period I was there. It was nice to see friendly faces by the pool, however, the atmosphere at the San Giorgio was relaxed and friendly, everybody got along and you could strike up a conversation with anyone. There wasn't any of this ' we are considerably better than yow' type rivalry. I was happy.

The resort of Skala by summer is a typically greek resort, and in the winter turns itself back into a sleepy village. There are enough restaurants to eat at a different place every night for a month, and a sprinkling of bars adds a vibrant atmosphere, without cheapening the place. It was nice to catch the hotel bus into town every night for food and drinks, and was easy to get a taxi back when we had our fill.

We did touristy things around the island. I saw the phenomenon of the Melissani Lake, Drogarati Caves and visiting the highlights of the set from the film Captain Correli's Mandolin. There are views aplenty on Kefalonia and some are not for the feint hearted. The end of the holiday was looming though and as we turned browner, my mood turned bluer at the thought of leaving a place that I thought one day I could call home. This visit to the island only strengthened my desire for the place. The gravitational pull towards the place was stronger than ever. I had already made friends on the island, and people recognised me from the previous September. The friendliness of the Kefalonians only wanted to make me stay even more.

Well, I may disappoint you all now by not sharing details of how I met my special someone. I do believe that these things are personal and private. It was simply a boy meeting a girl, and realising there was something very special between them. So much so, that already in a short space of time, my life has changed dramatically. We meet people in life for all different rhymes and reasons, but sometimes, if we are lucky, we are destined to meet that special person. The person that believes in you and makes you feel anything is possible. I never thought that it would happen to me, but it has and it did, and I now count my blessings every day.

I never knew how much joy and inspiration that another being could give to you, and you can give back to them. Life is wonderful, and the rest of my journey on here will be about how my life has changed and how I have been inspired. I am hoping to inspire so many
others to do things that they never thought possible through my blog.
